In a bid to boost consumer confidence, Hugo Barra from Xiaomi has revealed that the company has started migrating the data of its international users to servers located outside of China. By migrating data of its international users outside of China, the company is looking to improve the network performance of its Mi services. Much more importantly though, it will allow the company to maintain higher privacy standard, which is a high priority for it as it looks to expand into new markets over the coming years. Barra says that Xiaomi is expecting to cut down the network latency for Indian users by up to 350ms, while Malaysian users will experience 2-3x faster Photosync post the migration. Next year, the company is also planning on going local in some of its fastest growing markets like India and Brazil where it will be working with local data center providers to setup their network infrastructure to deliver an even better experience to its users.
